“Peace, to have meaning for many who have only known suffering in both peace and war, must be translated into bread or rice, shelter, health and education, as well as freedom and human dignity.”
– Ralph Johnson Bunche (1904-1971)
One of the most effective ways to promote peace is through development. That is why Al-Tariq has initiated sevaral development projects to further Palestinian society and create the conditions that are necessary for a just, lasting peace. Our development programs focus on educating and providing women, young people and children with the tools they need to create a better tomorrow. Our current development projects include:
- Golden Fabric – Focuses on empowering widows and women who are the sole providers for their families with sustainable income and a support network.
- Save the Water – Focuses on training young people to become advocates for water rights in their local communities and to work with regional and national government entites.
- Al Tarqi’s Resource Center – Focuses on strengthen the role of young people in civil society and to provide them with the resources to become local leaders in their communities promoting democracy, non-violent conflict resolution and human rights in Palestine.
